THE PERFECT MAN
What are your first thoughts on awakening in the morning?
Always a form of gratitude, being grateful for being afforded the opportunity to live freely and love deeply. Shortly after those thoughts, I go straight to thinking about whether there are waves or not!
Do you drink coffee or tea?
Coffee for the most part, but i don’t mind herbal tea’s, too.
Friday or Sunday?
Sunday for sure. Being from Australia, we enjoy Sunday afternoon at the pub with friends…now living in Portugal, I always have lunch with my Portuguese friends here, lot’s of good seafood and many wines ;)
Your face (and body) are known globally, how were you chosen to model?
I would have to thank my agent in LA, David Todd. DT must have seen a picture of me playing rugby back in the day and saw something and it has really gone from there.
How did it feel to become the face (and body) of Paco Rabanne Invictus?
It has been a great experience, mostly because it is so vastly different to that of my time in sport. It has been really cool to represent a brand whilst also still advocating for what I believe in with the brands support…we have supported many charities over the years and that has been super important to me.
Do you feel like a champion?
The thing that makes me feel most like a champion is always speaking my mind on topics which are important to me…i really feel like the professional experiences have been afforded to me in order to inspire others and stand with those who are often marginalized in society.
An awkward or humbling moment from a shoot you worked on?
I don’t have too many experiences that were awkward, but it definitely feels humbling to wrap a long shoot with a team of people who bring some amazing things to life…it is always an army, but the model is the one that everyone sees, so sharing moments with people that make it happen and show my gratitude to them is always important to me.
Your main flaw?
Too excessive.
Do rugby players pay a lot of attention to their grooming in the locker rooms after their games?
Not so much at the start of my career, so most of my teammates thought I was a little weird hah, but for sure now, athletes are definitely paying more attention to taking care of themselves and that starts in the locker room.
Bath or Shower?
Shower for sure, alone or with company.
Boxers or Briefs?
Boxers.
Favorite underwear color and label?
I wear my cousins new underwear line which is called The Unseen Label.
Jockstraps or Compression Shorts?
Compression shorts.
THE PERFECT MAN
As a former Rugby player, what does your fitness regimen look like?
I run a lot as I run marathons for charity, but I also do a lot of specific strength and mobility work for surfing.
What would be your super power?
To put all misogynistic, homophobic and racist people on an island with Donald Trump, far away from me!
How would you describe your personal style?
Surfer X Rock.
What was your latest stylish purchase?
Acne Studios jacket and Sandro Pants.
What are your favorite labels?
Nudie Jeans for denim and Classic tees, Acne Studios for a little more spice, John Varvatos for something chic.
Motorcycle or car?
Car, Motos are scary.
Do you think it’s important for a man to be sexy?
I think it is important for a man to feel sexy, how you feel has more impact on another than just looking sexy.
What scares you? And what makes you angry?
Heights scare me and the fact that Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro were both presidents makes me angry AF.
Do you read books? If so what was the last one?
I read a lot for university and am most interested in psychology. The last book i read was a journal and it was called, Powered by feel.
Is there a quote that speaks to you?
Carpe Diem.
Dogs or cats?
Dogs.
What qualities do you seek in your male friends?
One who is not domineering and willing to take responsibility when wrong. I think for too long, men have done fucked up things and got a pass for it…it is time we speak up when Our friends say things that aren’t okay as men, so my friends have had to get used to that. Also one who is not afraid of their proclivities, especially sexually. I share my sexual proclivities with my friends not as a way to make me feel better, but to try and establish a safe environment to empower them to be more sexually explorative.
What’s something you could eat for a week straight?
Gyoza.
What accomplishment are you most proud of at the moment?
Playing professional sport was cool, but being willing to voice my opinion without fear has been the biggest accomplishment.
What social issue are you most passionate about?
A bunch, but i have always supported the LGBTQI community and also do some work within gender equity and female empowerment.
A place to lose yourself?
The ocean.
What would your perfect night be like?
Sunset surf, couple of beers with those I love the most and maybe some live music.
What do you wear to sleep?
Nothing, bed is for being naked.
What makes a perfect man?
One who is willing to be vulnerable, admit fault when wrong and open about their feelings and love.
