What’s your first thought when you wake up?
Where’s the snooze button? Well, I actually try a start the day afresh. A new day, a brand new opportunity to be better and do better than the day before. I always think about at least one thing that I am going to accomplish that progresses me to my ultimate goal.
Coffee or tea man?
I love coffee, however I limit myself to one a day. Usually shortly after I wake up to kick start my day.
How do you deal with tiredness?
Personally I find the perfect antidote for tiredness is to keep moving, whether that is going for walk or going to the gym. However, most importantly I try to recognize the cause of my tiredness, for example have I had enough sleep, am I hydrated? If not, then I try to rest and allow my body the time and space to recover.
What’s your favorite sport?
Tennis for sure. I grew up in Melbourne so have been lucky enough to attend the Australian Open several times I admire the dedication and commitment it takes to be any athlete competing on the world stage.
How can we get the Sam Marchetta physique?
I strongly believe that diet the most important thing, everything in moderation I say. So I try and minimize my consumption of processed foods, and tend to eat a diet high in protein. Exercising consistently (4-5 times per week) is also important and this includes a balance of weight training and cardio. When it comes to weight training I find it essential to work out all components of each muscle group, for example when it comes to my biceps I use exercises that target different parts of the muscle.
Gym or personal trainer?
A mixture of both have worked for me, for the most part I have not had a personal trainer. However I have found them particularly useful at particular times in my life, when I first started working out a personal trainer was critical in showing me the right techniques and secondly at points where I have felt my motivation slipping a personal trainer has helped me keep my fitness goals on track.
What’s on your iPhone for workout music at the moment?
At the moment I am listening to a lot of retro music, mid to late 80s. My 80s playlist includes Simple Minds, Culture Club and Duran Duran. I have a preference for music with high beats per minute as I find it helps keep my energy and motivation up for the duration of my workout.
THE PERFECT MAN
MR. SAM MARCHETTA
What do you wear to workout?
I am a tank top and shorts man. I think it is important to wear workout clothing that not only looks good but also does not constrict your movement.
How do you describe your personal style?
I would describe my style as mostly classic. I tend to stick to mostly a color palette of white, black, blue and denim, with splashes of color. I am equally comfortable suited and in jeans and a tee, it certainly depends on the setting.
Boxers or briefs?
Briefs and my favorite brand is an Aussie brand called Bonds. They are literally the most comfortable briefs ever, so much so I brought 20 pairs with me when I moved to New York.
