What do you do when you get up in the morning?

I usually make myself a coffee and start checking on ideas and notes I recorded the night before and most importantly start the shower.

Do you sleep a lot?

It really depends on the evening before but as of lately, not a whole lot. Too many things to do.

Do you sing in the shower?

Always!

How did you get started in music?

Honestly, I think it was MTV. Growing up, that channel was always on. At that point it was still all about the music. Such an amazing concept, especially the European version.

What inspired the first release “Doin’ to Me”

“Doin’ to Me” is a song that covers the topic of poisonous relationships that are addictive & harmful yet oddly pleasurable at times.

Who directed the video?

The video was directed by Francois Rousseau & Andre Atangana. They are dear friends of mine and amazing artists with whom I have collaborated on a few projects.

Do you have an EP in the works?

Yes I do.

Do you write your music? Do you collaborate?

Some music I write and produce entirely on my own. Other times I collaborate with artists or let a different producer and writer take the lead. Such is the case for “Doin’ To Me”, which was written & produced by the über talented Greg Cohen with additional composition & lyrics by the Grammy nominated Kyle “K.O.” Owens, Akil “Fresh” King and Jaramye “JRM” Jael Daniels.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

From life experiences; whether mine or someone else's...I do have a fascination for tumultuous, conflicted relationships. A lot of my songs gravitate toward that theme.

What time of the day is the most inspiring for you?

Always been a night crawler; so I would say late night.

Tell us about CAIA? What does the name mean?

CAIA is a play on last name which is Caillat.

Are there any singers you admire?

There are a lot of artists that I admire but if I had to name one I would definitely say George Michael.

Do you play any instruments?

I play the keyboard/piano; mostly in the studio for production purposes.

Are your classically trained in music?

I don't consider myself classically trained.

Do you read books? If so, what was the last one?

Yes, I do. I just finished “Gratitude” by Oliver Sacks — a short read, extremely moving that I highly recommend it.

As a Swiss team gymnast in your youth, what does your exercise regimen look like today?

I would say that today it is a combination of calisthenics and weight lifting combined with endurance exercises such as swimming, power, walking, running and cycling.

Do you have a vice?

I have many vices.

Are you interested in clothes and style?

Yes, very much so.

Discuss your personal style preferences, including underwear?

I like the idea of “timeless elegance” it allows one to explore a variety of style options without being confined in one “box” so to speak.

I also think that as a man it is important to understand the rules of classic menswear tradition even if it means bending them slightly (within the realm of good taste), from time to time.  I don’t often wear underwear, but when I do I go for Zimmerli & Hanro: two classic Swiss brands with amazing quality and slick chic designs.

What beauty products do you use?

BeautyRX by Dr. Schultz.

What perfume do you wear? Wear do you put your perfume?

Right now I’m wearing Alfeti by Penhaligon’s. I love this house and all they do. Just a touch on wrists and neck.

What do you think are the most exciting people in the world today?

Front running creatives and philanthropists are the most exciting people to me.

What women do you think are exciting and interesting?

Women that are strong, independent, in touch with their femininity and compassionate.

Name a woman you find sexy?

My girlfriend is diabolically sexy!

Do you think it’s important for a man to be sexy?

I think it is important for everyone to feel attractive and desired.

What makes a perfect man in 2020?

A renaissance man of sorts with a strong inclination for entrepreneurship, not only to further his own ambition but to inspire and empower his contemporaries. And, of course, one who is devilishly well dressed.

How do you spend your evenings?

I cook a lot. Work on music. And when time allows, I do enjoy a late night movie in good company.

What makes you very happy?

Watching people enjoying the music that I make. That's the whole point!
