Congratulations on your latest song Blood! What inspired the theme of this single?

I had this line in my head “I’m coming for Blood” and that was the initial jumping point. But originally the song was actually meant for a movie and later a show, but when it didn’t end up making the final cut of either, I just loved it too much to toss it so I adopted it for my EP. It’s very dark and villainous.

In the music video, you play a vampire king it seems. If you could live forever, would you?

At the rate the world is developing and the direction we’re going in at the moment, absolutely not. I think average lifespan is good enough for me as long as I am happy and feel like I came and did what I wanted to do.

Summer is coming. Do you have any summer anthems at the moment?

I’m still stuck on SZA’s album and I think the deluxe is going to take me out for the rest of the year.

Are there any summer anthems on your upcoming EP?

I still have a few slots to fill on the tracklist but I definitely want at least one upbeat, fun song to balance out the emotional stuff. Maybe something in Portuguese?

Do you have any vacation plans coming up?

I always love spending time in New York so that’s on my radar. I’m dying to go to Hawaii and Greece at some point, but right now the only trip I definitely have set in stone is to Paris in October. I'm excited to go back again. It will be my ninth time I believe!

Your music tends to have a lot of themes of love and heartbreak. What’s your love life like at the moment?

I’ve been really wanting something serious so I’ve started to date differently and really focus on what qualities I want in a long term partner, and if I don’t see those things early on, I’m trying not to waste time, even if it’s fun. There’s certain things you can teach someone, and time can shift a couple things, but overall it’s an energy and essence that I can feel. I know myself so well. I’ll know when I meet my match.

What’s the most romantic date you’ve ever been on?

Honestly I’m really simple with these things. Spending time is one of my biggest love languages and that doesn’t require some grand plan, so I truly just love dinner and exploring and talking. I’d say if someone is very thoughtful on a date, I feel more understood and connected, so It tends to be more memorable for me. Like if they got me my favorite snack or drink I’d mentioned before, that small stuff means a lot to me.

Can we get any hints about your next projects?

Write now I am so focused on my music and the book that I’m publishing in a few months. It’s called Bedlam. It’s a post-apocalyptic fiction. Ambitiously, I like to describe it as The Last of Us meets Euphoria. The backdrop is apocalyptic, but it’s so much more about the characters and their relationships. Very excited to have it out in the world in a physical copy.
